The Sewa International movement started in 1993 and has since expanded its footprint to over 30 Countries Worldwide. The Term Sewa is an ancient Hindu concept that describes the act of giving without expectation or reward ‘Service before Self’.
Since its inception in South Africa, Sewa International is relentlessly serving humanity in distress irrespective of caste, creed, color, religion, race or region, committed to serving the communities in need with essentials including cooked food, water, groceries, skills, clothing, etc. The organisation is driven by the need to provide more sustainable solutions to the underlying socio-economic issues that plague the most vulnerable of South Africans.
Sewa International’s mission is to serve humanity in distress, aid local communities, run developmental projects for the underserved, and assist people in transformational change through the power of innovation by mobilizing partners, donors, and volunteers
We aspire to be the prominent, universal inclusive value-based organization to serve humanity selflessly and with compassion, creating a positive impact within South Africa. We envision and strive for a world in which all people live in harmony and free from suffering.
